Tempting side streets and relaxation by the Lakes

The main street is long - quite long, but shops aren't far between and there is much to tempt you in the district of Østerbro. You'll find handsome boutiques and fine restaurants on Dag Hammerskjölds Allé and Østerbrogade, the two main streets on Østerbro. We can recommend a walk through the charming small side streets as well

The map gives you a general view of the district.

Follow Dag Hammerskjölds Allé and Østerbrogade past lots of fine boutiques, new eating places and pleasant cafés. The area surrounding Østerbrogade is also a good place for relaxing. Have an ice cream or a cup of coffee overlooking the lakes, or take a stroll down some of the side streets - Østerbro has a bit of everything.

Willemoesgade
Between Østerbrogade and Standboulevarden is Willemoesgade. With its many trees, cobbled streets and handsome facades, it has a Parisian air. In the shops you can buy organic children's gear, old Swedish farm furniture, luxury second hand articles and clothing for the trendy, modern woman.

Classensgade
This street has led a somewhat anonymous life compared to Nordre Frihavnsgade and Østerbrogade. But last year a number of innovative and interesting shops moved in. Today you find design shoes, jewellery and clothing for youngsters as well as grown ups in Classensgade. The shops have one thing i commomn: they specialize in products and brands you don't find anywhere else - no chain stores here.

Nordre Frihavnsgade
Long Nordre Frihavnsgade has undergone a positive development during the last couple of years. The street boasts a number of fashion shops, delis, green grocers, cheese shops, antique dealers and boutiques with children's wear.  Should you be interested in retro furniture from the 50's and 60's, Nordre Frihansgade has a lot to offer, especially  the further you go from Østerbrogade. Here are shops with everything from floral porcelain to old advertisement signs and furniture by top architects such as Eames and Arne Jaocbsen.
