Downtown Copenhagen

Downtown Copenhagen is the oldest district with small, narrow streets and alleys and a great variety of women- and mens' wear shops to match any purse. Strøget, the main pedestrian street, goes from the City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv, always packed with people and street artists, so take a stroll and don't forget the many side, and parallel streets.

Strøget and Købmagergade

The two longest shopping streets are Strøget and Købmagergade, where you find international brands such as Prada, Max Mara, Louis Vuitton, Cerutti, Mulberry, Chanel, Marlboro, Karen Millen, Marc Jacobs, Hennes and Mauritz, Benetton, Diesel and chain stores.

This is also where you find Copenhagen's oldest department stores, Illum and Magasin. If you want to get a bit away from the crowd, take some of the side streets.

Kronprinsensgade and Silkegade  

Halfway down Købmagergade, is the so called "Copenhagen fashion street". Named thus because of the many fashion designers that have chosen this location. Bruuns Bazaar, Flying A and Stig P. who sell several hip foreign labels.

Silkegade, parallel to Kronprinsensgade, is likewise a must. Here you can have one of the most expensive and finest hair cuts at Gun-Britt Coiffure, buy your dancing shoes, tull skirts and refined lingery and underwear or visit Scandinavia's oldest second hand book store.

Adelgade, Grønnegade and Ny Østergade

If, coming from Kongens Nytorv, you make a small detour away from Strøget, you reach the charming area around Grønnegade with Tudor houses refurbished into exclusive boutiques. You can buy elegant shoes and clothing, there's a juice bar and other treats.

Galleri K - Pilestræde, Antonigade and Kristen Bernikows Gade

Copenhagen's new exclusive shopping district, Galleri K is right in the centre, just behind Illum. Popular Danish designers: By Marlene Birger and DAY have opened large, impressive flagship stores. But not only the already wellknown names are found here at Galleri K.

American Urban Outfitters, and the lingery firm Agent Provocateur have also opened their first Nordic shops here. Furthermore this is where you find Adidas Originals, Replay, Designers Remix and others.
