'Jacobsen' is the name of a micro brewery, or house brewery, on the Carlsberg Brewery's premises in Valby opening on 1 June 2005. Here you can follow the process of brewing beer, taste the finished product and have a chat with the brewer and his staff.
Beer trend
Carlsberg has managed to place itself firmly on the new trendy beer market. The Danes have only recently 'discovered' the charm of specialized beers, and this has lead to the opening of a number of small house breweries or so-called microbreweries. 'Jacobsen' is the name of the micro brewery and it will introduce several new exciting beers. It's situated at the Visitors Centre.
Jacobsen, the small house brewery
More than 150.000 visitors have found their way to the Carlsberg Visitors' Centre since it opened. Located in the original oldest part of the brewery from 1878 in the heart of the vast Carlsberg Brewery area, it tells the story of the company from its small beginnings to the present day. And the new house brewery has been named Jacobsen in honour of the brewery founder J.C.Jacobsen.
Capacity
On the first floor, you are invited to visit the bar, overlooking the large copper tanks and the tapping area. Jacobsen produces 17.000 hectolitres, the equivalent of 5 million bottles per year, but can go up to 35.000 hectolitres.
