Zoo

5 February 2013 Copenhagen Zoo's new and unique facilities for polar bears, North Atlantic birds and seals, The Arctic Ring, opened.

Besides the fact that the animals have much better living conditions and space, the new facilities also allow you to get extremely close to the fascinating animals both above and below the water surface; unparalleled in Europe.

The Copenhagen Zoo has more than 3,000 animals from around the world and a total of 264 different species.

Rain forest and children's zoo

Regardless of the weather outside, a hot humid climate awaits you in the rain forest of the Tropical Zoo. On your tropical tour you will come across snakes, crocodiles, marmosets, hornbills, chevrotains, exotic birds, and butterflies.

The Copenhagen Zoo features Europe's greatest Children's Zoo where kids can pat the pygmy goats, meet the tame rabbits and the snakes! The Zoo Stage has all the domestic animals, and there is a safe riding track where kids can ride the ponies.

Even more reason to stop by the fascinating Zoo

The new Elephant House opened in 2008 and designed by the renowned British architect Sir Norman Foster, is considered among the best elephant facilities of its kind in the world.

Get a close-up view of the elephants as they bathe in the specially designed basin that is so deep only their raised trunks are visible when they submerge themselves.
