Only 700 meters from the Visitors Centre you find Museum of Copenhagen, housed in one of the beautiful mansions from the 1700's. Here you can dive into the last 300 years of the Danish capital's history and experience exhibitions about Copenhagen's diverse cultures and metropolitan development and conflicts. You can experience the exhibition 'Becoming a Copenhagener' that tells about immigration to the city and examines what it means to be a Copenhagener. You can also see the unique collection of clothes, furniture, and letters that belonged to the Copenhagen philosopher and author Søren Kirkegaard. However, the museum is not only based in Vesterbro. Meet the museum in the town by the major archaeological excavations at Kongens Nytorv (King's New Square) and Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square).Don't miss THE WALL! It is a 12 meter long interactive multi-touch screen that, through thousands of pictures, displays the Copenhageners' lives and stories. THE WALL is placed at Rådhuspladsen. You can even participate in the storytelling and tell about your experiences in Copenhagen by uploading your photos of the city to THE WALL. If you want to experience the city's ancient streets on foot, you can join one of the museum's summer walks or download free audio walks to your iPod. Friday the entrance is free.
